February 2021

With eleven months of Covid fear, we can see a loosening of restriction as the vaccine is being rolled out in Canada. I am not optimistic, but hopeful, that by the end of this year there will be a better climate for live music. I was grateful for the opportunity the lockdowns gave me to play my songs for you via FB live. Thank you for watching and for your kind comments. With time on my hands, I wrote a few more songs, which will be recorded when allowed. I discovered a few forgotten recordings that were recorded in Paul Mckeracher's home studio and I will add them to the MUSIC section of this website shortly.

This past year, The Shawn Connerys Band, has been working on songs for our next album. Covid gathering restrictions have certainly slowed down the process. On the positive side, I've had lots of time to figure out my bass lines in preparation for our next session. We are all very excited about the new album, which will include a reworked song of mine, Lying Mary, that was written twenty years ago.

Much has happened in the last year. Although I am still writing a little, my attention has turned to playing bass full time with The Shawn Connerys Band (theshawnconnerysband.com). Drummer, Ryan Young and I, have joined the band permanently after playing the Fork in the Road Festival, Elora, in June, 2019. We have since played the Moonshine Café in Oakville, and a two packed shows at the Metcalfe, Elora. Sadly, the Corona virus has stopped us in our tracks with three shows cancelled to date. We do have lots of videos on our website so please check them out.

Prior to physical distancing, we had been working on several new original songs and a few new covers. We were also working on Lying Mary, a song I wrote 20 years ago. We were so looking forward to debuting it but it will have to wait until the dust settles. You can listen to two versions of lying Mary on my first and second album by clicking on the MUSIC tab.

Once physical distancing is off, our plan is to set up in The Treehouse living room to record several videos and perhaps even record a show. If you subscribe to our YouTube channel, you will see them as soon as they are released.
November 2021

Covid has been hard on our band. Our primo gigs were cancelled and now this. I was fired from the band because I put my foot down to not practice with our drummer who is unvaccinated. We had our first gig coming out of restrictions on November 20th at the Moonshine Café, but I was asked to cancel it because of our drummer. We could not go into a recording studio or play out because of his status. The earliest we could start practising, if our drummer got vaccinated, was the spring. So I'm out and moving on. It was a hard blow in the way they teamed up on me, but I'm glad to be back in control of my musical journey. Please stay tuned. I have been working on new songs and old songs with musical friends with a rockier feel.

When practices and rehearsals were at my studio, I had one rule, the word 'sorry' was not allowed. I do have ideas for a few new rules.

January 2023

The Shawn Connerys are now a distant memory in my rear view mirror. The silver lining is that I have been playing more than ever. I've been jamming bass and acoustic guitar on Thursdays at Roger Gibson's barn with a talented group of musicians. This has filled my cup and inspired me to work on my original songs. I recorded two old songs at Tom Althouse's Elora studio, just my vocals and guitar. I overdubbed each with my fretless bass. Give them a listen, they are at the top of the MUSIC page. I also played a Sunday matinee at the Outpost Bottle Shop in Fergus and three evenings at The Porch Light in Elora.

In October, I started a Face Book group called Fergus Elora Music. I created it as a place for those looking for live music. The list is updated every Monday. Anyone hosting a live music event is free to post their promotional material. As of today, we have 254 members. In this past week alone, the group increased by 65 members. It's great to see the interest in live music. My hope is that the list encourages more live music events.

I've written a new song called I Saw You, and I fixed a song I wrote 23 years ago called The Other Shoe. I played it for some friends last week. Paul McKeracher played bass along with it and was surprised that he had never heard it before. He liked it a lot. I had an issue with one line in the song. I would go back to it over the years but it wasn't until a few weeks ago that I finally found the words I was looking for. I have more, stayed tuned.

March 2019

The couple that purchased O'Briens got Adam's Thursday night open mic started up again so it once again became a place to meet musical friends and play some tunes.

M2S is still playing, but not as much, as we all have other projects on the go. We have a standing practice time every Sunday night to keep us sharp.  We still play the Moonshine Café twice a year to the fan base we have developed since we started playing there 3 years ago.

Several months ago, I started up Peter Mandic Band (PMB) after Paul, my original bass player from 12 years ago, and I got back together.  We played as a duo late last year, but then expanded to a five piece on the encouragement of the boys in M2S and who are backing Paul and I.  Our first show will be at the Moonshine Café on March 30th.

Ryan and I, the M2S rhythm section, accepted a role with an Elora based duo, the Shawn Connerys. They asked us to back them at the Forks in the Road Festival on June 8th outside of Elora. After one rehearsal, the chemistry was there, so we booked a tentative date to play the Moonshine Café on November 9th.
